Ghazaal GhazanfariIn the Realm of Bewilderment
The picture is an open door to the other side and shows me the way;
from here to the far distance, from earth to nowhere, from concreteness to
abstraction. Boundaries are fluid and flowing, and they do not block the path.
One by one, I pass through them and reach the blue of the mountains resting on
the sky, then return. Neither do I settle in the depths nor remain on the
surface. From the front to the back of the photo, everything tangible and
reachable appears discordant and strange, sitting in two other layers of
meaning on the left and right — an account of the world reflected in the mirror
of abstraction. Which earth is more real, and which blue is closer to the sky?
There is no expectation of an answer; perhaps I must remain bewildered in this
coming and going.
