Ghazaal GhazanfariThe Light of a Dream
The picture resembles a dream without beginning or end; delightful
and intoxicating. It takes your hand and pulls you along a path—somewhere
between touch and futility, between awareness and unknowing. You walk, but not
with feet on the ground. You pass through the threshold of light but never
reach the end of this view, the final mark of this path. It seems that the
bench is no place for resting; it’s only a subject for looking while on the
way—and you know well that there is no arriving.
The picture holds your gaze on the border between sleep and
wakefulness; between eternity and decay. It pulls you out of the darkness of
presence and entrusts you to this imaginary light. There it suspends you and
lets you savor the brightness of a dream.
