At first glance, this image resembles a satellite photograph of the surface of an unknown planet. In reality, however, what we are looking at is the roof of a car at night while the white spots are reflections of light within the camera lens. I am fascinated by the way photography can open up new possibilities for seeing and reimagining the world around us.

At the same time, these bright spots remind us that the camera is never a completely transparent window onto reality. Rather, they are traces of the photographic apparatus itself—elements that, instead of disappearing, become part of the image's meaning. It is as if the photograph speaks not only about the world before the lens, but also about the conditions of its own making. For this reason I see this image not simply as a photograph of a surface or an object, but as a photograph about photography itself—one that invites us to reconsider the ways photographs are made, perceived and interpreted.
